GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION AND CHARACTER OF THE COMMUNITY OUR CITY
Town and Community Krzywiń are situated in the south-west part of Wielkopolska Region, since 1 January 1999 - in Kościan District. Until recently the community had an agricultural character and private farms were a basis for inhabitants' economic activity. For a few years tourism has been developing quickly. The community lies in an extremely picturesque area of the range of Dolskie Hills with numerous forests, fields and lakes.
HISTORY
The history of Krzywiń goes back to 1070. The then settlement belonged to Komes Michał from the house of Awdaniec, and later on it became the property of the Benedictines who had arrived from Leodium (at present the city of Liege in Belgium). The Krzywiń Land was situated on the important route joining Wielkopolska and Silesia. In the middle of the 12th c., in Lubiń, situated 5 km from Krzywiń, the Benedictines erected a Roman church, monastery buildings and fortifications crowned with donjons. The monastery, extended in the Gothic and Baroque epochs, is now one of the most valuable places of interest of the Christian culture in Poland. Krzywiń itself, as the former seat of the castellan’s court, can be proud of its 760-year-old history. The Gothic church dated from the 15th c. with its rich Baroque interior shows how important the town was centuries ago. Krzywiń also participated in the country's fight for independence. The history of the voluntary campaign of 1918 and the memories of the soldiers who fought with the invader in 1939 are still very much alive among the inhabitants of Krzywiń.

Young people from Krzywiń attend four primary schools and the Group of Secondary and Vocational Schools.
